Amaryllis Growth Check - 14 days

It has been 2 weeks and here is the growth so far. I did put it in the basement for 3 days due to concerns of it growing too fast because of the room temperature, (due to keeping the fire burning in the wood stove) I wouldn't want to have a weak stalk which would prevent it from supporting the flower. Not sure if it did any good but it is looking okay so far. Time will tell.

Hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas Day.

Amaryllis day 4

The growth of my Amaryllis 4 days later. There are only leaves at this point. Usually when you first start growing one of these the first growth is a bud but as they get older they start with leaves. At least that has been my experience so far. Of course there are those that grow only leaves and then don't flower...for reasons unknown to me. I don't think that will be the case here. Time will tell.
In the mean time, I hope you have been playing the Elf game. And no hitting Santa! ;)

Growing Amaryllis

For those of you who love watching an Amaryllis grow I'll be posting the stages of growth for this Red Lion. This is one my dad gave me for Christmas in 2003. I have 3 more in the basement which I'll start regrowing for Easter. They are amazing and they grow so fast, I just love checking their progress each day :). If you stay tuned, you will see this one will flower within a few weeks. You can see only the slightest bit of growth right now. For those of you that haven't experienced growing an Amaryllis, keep checking back, you may find you'll want to try one yourselves.

JUST A REMINDER: You can enlarge any pictures by clicking on them.

More Catholic Daughters Christmas Pic's

Catholic Daughters Christmas Dinner

Here we are, Mary Ann and I, playing Christmas Carols for the Catholic Daughters Christmas Dinner. For one particular song, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause. . . I had a few props, thanks to Yellie. However, Mary Ann had no idea I was going to do this :). It was lots of fun and I got many compliments on how great I sounded. Not sure how to take that since I was way off pitch. Geesh, I don't get that much praise when I sing good. Yikes! :/ What does that mean????

We both had prime rib for dinner which was cooked perfectly and very tender. Everything was wonderful. Our Catholic Daughters know how to put on a dinner.
