I spend most of my free time gardening, reading garden magazines, photographing the garden or baking (mostly sweets, which list chocolate as the main ingredient). I play the guitar and sing in a contemporary choir of which I have been a member for 26 years.

Peanut Butter Dreams

Crust:
1 pkg. Pillsbury Brownie Mix (19.5 oz.)
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Peanut Butter Filling:
1 - 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup confectioners sugar
1 - 8 oz. container whipped topping

Chocolate Ganache:
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup heavy cream

You are following the brownie mix ingredients. If the brownie package has cake like brownies, try that. I added an additional egg to make the brownies more cake like but this may not work with all brownie mixes. Bake at 325 in a greased 13x9 glass pan for 20-22 minutes. Cool completely.
Beat cream cheese, peanut butter and sugar until smooth, fold in whipped topping and spread over cooled brownies.
In a microwave safe bowl add the chocolate chips and heavy cream, microwave for about 60 seconds, stir. If chips are not melted microwave an additional 20 seconds, stir until chips are completely melted. Spread over peanut butter filling. Chill about 2 hours or until chocolate ganache is firm.

What prompted this creation? A friend of mine has given me those German Chocolate Bars Wegman's sells. The base is kind of cake like and I wondered what it would taste like with peanut butter on top so I thought I'd try a cake like brownie and add my peanut butter pie filling to the top. Then of course you can never go wrong with Chocolate Ganache :). And there you have it, Peanut Butter Dreams. I know. . . . .they are nothing like the German Chocolate Bars. I guess that's how creativity works.
